Math and Literature
This article offers advice on how to incorporate math into regular children's books. If there is an opportunity to incorporate another subject into children's literature do it. It allows for an excellent learning experience. It broadens students horizons and allows them to see that what they are learning can be found anywhere, even in books when they least expect it. I think that incorporating math into literature is a great idea. There are so many books now that incorporate math. Encourage your children to read them. Or read through a book they are currently reading and help them think of ways that math was used. Sometimes it is where they least expect it.
I plan to have a variety of math incorporated literature books in my classroom. Children enjoy looking/reading books so why not have books available that incorporate another subject area. The books can also be great for engaging students in lessons. As soon as you begin reading, they become hooked.
